MMSI Radio License for VHF, AIS, EPIRB
What is a MMSI?
A Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) is a series of nine digits which are sent in digital form over a radio frequency channel in order to uniquely identify ship stations, ship earth stations, coast stations, coast earth stations, and group calls. These identities are formed in such a way that the identity or part thereof can be used by telephone and telex subscribers connected to the general telecommunications network to call ships automatically.
Why do I need a MMSI Radio Licence for my yacht?
It is mandatory in most countries to have a valid MMSI radio license on your yacht so we recommend our boat owners to apply for a MMSI Radio license when applying for the Polish flag registration. The license permits the following equipment: VHF Radio, radar, epirb, transponder & radar and assigns the numbers needed to operate correctly.
Your boat needs to be entered into the MMSI register, after which you will receive a unique identifying number. An AIS number and a unique call sign are also required. We can provide this for you without any problem. The costs for this is € 149 and can be easily and entirely requested online.

Our registration service covers the whole registration in English. You just need to follow a few steps in our online registration process. When we have received the required documents, we will submit your information to request the MMSI license. All MMSI Radio Licenses issued by the Polish Office of Electronic Communication (UKE) are in PDF format. We will send you an e-mail with your license which you can print and keep onboard of the vessel.
The Polish registration office needs the following documents:
- a copy of the radio operator's certificates, can be any European radio operators certificate
- device list (brand and model). You can register the following the devices: radio vhf + optional: radar, epirb, transponder and radar.
- declaration of conformity CE for each device (we can help you with this)

- authorization for us to register you (we provide this form).
The Polish MMSI can be only requested when you have received the original Polish registration document and takes about 3-4 weeks, portable devices like portable VHF radio cannot be registered in Poland as the Polish authorities do not require a MMSI license for portable devices.
