PARKER 850 Voyager Electric Reaches 22.2 Knots

The PARKER 850 Voyager has entered a new chapter. Powered by the ExploMar 150+ electric propulsion system, the 8.9-metre motorboat has completed its first sea trials — reaching 22.2 knots with four people on board.

The first results are encouraging and point to an increasingly interesting future for electric propulsion in larger recreational boats.

The PARKER 850 Voyager Electric combines the proven characteristics of the Parker platform with the latest generation of electric propulsion technology. During the initial trials, the boat demonstrated not only impressive speed, but also the composed handling, stability and predictable behaviour expected from a Parker.

And the testing programme is far from over.

During its first sea trials, the PARKER 850 Voyager Electric reached a top speed of 22.2 knots with four people on board.

While the figure itself is certainly impressive, maximum speed is only part of the story. The development team is also focusing on the overall behaviour of the boat — from acceleration and handling to efficiency and cruising comfort.

Further testing is currently underway, with particular attention being paid to the propeller set-up. The objective is to find the optimum balance between performance, efficiency and comfort.

That means the final configuration may still evolve as testing continues.

At the heart of the project is the ExploMar 150+ electric propulsion system, bringing high-performance electric propulsion into a segment traditionally dominated by conventional petrol engines.

For a boat of this size and character, the choice is significant. Electric propulsion has historically been associated primarily with smaller boats, tenders and low-speed applications. Projects such as the PARKER 850 Voyager Electric demonstrate how quickly that picture is changing.

The Parker 850 Voyager itself is an 8.9-metre recreational motorboat, designed around comfort, versatility and performance. In conventional configurations, the model can be equipped with twin outboards delivering substantial combined power.
